    Structural Engineering Concentration

A forward-looking curriculum that offers state-of-the-art and emerging techniques in structural behavior and design. Our program is aimed at educating highly qualified engineers and preparing them to develop resilient, sustainable, and advanced structures for leading firms and governmental agencies.

Our curriculum is built on three fundamental themes:

    • Behavior & Design
    • Advanced Materials
    • Analysis & Computation

The program requires foundational courses in each focus area as well as the flexibility to tailor the balance of the curriculum with a breadth of electives aligned with the student’s area of focus.

    Transportation Systems Engineering Concentration

Transportation Systems prepares students for professional careers with both private companies and public agencies. Our interdisciplinary program combines a variety of disciplines, including civil engineering, computer science, city and regional planning, economics, public policy and management.

Our core curriculum focuses on transportation planning and design and analysis, offering students the opportunity to specialize in an area of particular interest.

Cornell’s Structural Mechanics M.Eng. program was unique for me in that it provided immense flexibility. The format of the program allowed me to customize my coursework to prepare me for a career in protective design, a niche subfield of structural engineering. I was able to take classes from several different departments outside of CEE to address specific aspects of my chosen field. I could not have asked for better preparation for my professional life, from the typology of coursework to the quality and academic rigor.”
