Meet Our Students

  • Andrea: Biological Engineering

“After my community college supplied me with great engineering introductory courses, I was ready to challenge myself both professionally and personally. Motivated to advance my scientific career at a top tier research institution, I searched for a university that would support my non-traditional journey as a transfer student. As a Colombian immigrant, I have always been committed to inspire underrepresented communities in STEM. Cornell has celebrated my diverse background and has prepared me for my future as a physician scientist.”

  • Adigun: Civil Engineering

“I chose Cornell University because of its high academic rigor, resources, and opportunities. I understood that being a Cornell Engineer would expose me to a multitude of people and connections, as well as open the door to new possibilities for growth. Cornell is home to a strong tight-knit Black community, one which was important for me to have as I progress throughout my 4 years.”

  • Anoosha: Operations Research and Engineering

“There is no better place to be an international student than Cornell! Cornell offers amazing opportunities like study abroad and niche programs like Operations Research Engineering. Cornell also provides scholarships for international students, making Ivy League education affordable.”

  • Sean: Mechanical Engineering

“To any aspiring engineers who might be unsure of the journey that lies ahead, you’re going to do great! Even if your path has lots of twists and turns, the most important lesson that Cornell Engineering can ever teach you is figuring out what kind of life you want to lead. That’s why I discovered my love for medicine, and how I realized I could incorporate it into my love of engineering through biomedical robotics and emergency medicine. Engineering has helped me discover who I am and who I want to be, and that’s all I could’ve hoped for when looking for a great school.”

  • Barbara: Environmental Engineering

“Extracurriculars were a huge part of my Cornell experience. I was on the executive board for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) where I was able to meet other black engineers in different majors within Cornell and across the nation. NSBE has shown me the importance of diversity in STEM, and how to be an available resource within my community to help underclassmen.”

  • Alec: Electrical and Computer Engineering

“I very quickly realized that project teams are a really special part of the engineering education here. It was unlike anything I had seen at my previous school or anywhere else, and allows you to go beyond the classroom, actually put your skills to practical use, and learn how to do things a lot more like what you’re going to be doing at a job someday.”

  • Male student smiling with construction projects in the backrgound
  • Jazmin: Chemical Engineering

“Cornell Engineering is unique in that it is incredibly diverse. I was drawn to the 50/50 gender balance and knew that I would find support in many ways. Additionally, Cornell professors are world-renowned, and there are so many opportunities for hands-on work and networking. I wanted to go somewhere where I could study chemical engineering but also take classes like Greek Mythology, Intro to Acting, and the Ice Cream Class, and that place is Cornell!”

  • Female student smiling outside on a sunny day
  • David: Biomedical Engineering

“For my major specifically, I like that I take a variety of classes in difference engineering specialties while still working within my requirements. No one really only has one interest (if you do you’re really lucky) so being able to explore and mix and match your interests is really cool.”

  • Male student smiling inside a building
  • Kian: Civil Engineering

“I really love my project team Cornell Seismic Design. I came to Cornell not even knowing project teams existed, but this team has allowed me to explore my curiosity in design while learning from and becoming close to an extremely talented group of students.”

  • Male student wearing a red hoodie smiling
  • Avi: Operations Research and Engineering

“I loved the size of the school. It is small enough that I see my friends walking around campus every day, and it is big enough that I can meet someone new every day. Communities, clubs, and organizations welcome new students with open arms. I have gotten involved with my religious community, pre-professional clubs, and volunteer organizations.”
