Operations Research Focus

  • M.Eng. Student Leadership Committee

Each year, nominations are solicited from the M.Eng class for candidates to serve on the M.Eng Student Leadership Committee. The members of this committee organize social events and cultural outings, arrange for industry speakers, and collectively act as spokespeople for the M.Eng. class.

  • INFORMS

The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences is the national professional organization for operations research. The Institute of Industrial Engineers is the national professional organization of industrial engineers. Student chapters of INFORMS and IIE serve the purpose of introducing students to the professional aspects of the field, career opportunities, and a variety of social activities, i.e. intramural teams, an annual banquet, and semiannual picnics. Cornell has a very active joint INFORMS/IIE chapter, which M.Eng students are welcome to join. Through guest speakers from industry, plant tours, seminars and social activities, members benefit from the opportunity to meet other students and professional engineers and to learn about the latest developments and opportunities in the field. The national INFORMS and IIE organizations offer career-related information, including job postings and other valuable resources.
