Minor in Operations Research and Management Science

The Operations Research and Management Science minor provides students with tools like mathematical programming, stochastic models, and simulation to model complex systems and predict performance. It allows flexibility for focusing on methodological or application-oriented areas, fostering a comprehensive understanding of decision-making fundamentals.

Eligibility and Academic Standards

All undergraduates except those majoring in Operations Research and Information Engineering or Information Science, Systems, and Technology.

A student may receive credit for at most one minor offered by Operations Research and Information Engineering.

Students must earn at least a C- and at least a 2.0 GPA in all courses in the minor.

Course Requirements

At least six courses (minimum of 18 credits), chosen as follows:

  • At least three courses from the list below
  • Any ORIE courses at the 3000 level or higher
  • At most, three of these credits can be satisfied by undergraduate research, team project courses, and teaching assistantship in Operations Research and Information Engineering combined.
