Biography

Dr. Suélia S. R. Fleury Rosa’s focus on translating innovative health technologies from concept to market, applying translational research, is driven by her goal to train biomedical engineers with the skills to transform academic ideas into solutions for society. Her work aims to overcome the “valley of death” in innovations, offering a hopeful and optimistic vision for the future of healthcare.

Dr. Rosa began her career at Siemens as an industrial engineer and later gained experience developing technological solutions for patients at the SARAH Network in Brasília, Brazil’s capital. Her extensive career in Brazil is marked by her unwavering commitment to social impact. As a technical consultant, she has designed prototypes and conducted Phase I to IV clinical trials for various healthcare projects, always intending to improve society.

Since 2005, Dr. Rosa has been an academic professor at the University of Brasília, creating courses and consolidating undergraduate programs in engineering. She also coordinates postgraduate programs in Biomedical Engineering, supervising undergraduate and postdoctoral-level students. Her contributions to education, translational research, and the inspiration she provides to high school students are all testament to her dedication to making a difference.

One of her key motivations is to enhance the hands-on learning experience in electronic and biomedical engineering. She believes that students must thoroughly explore and understand every circuit and component, enabling them to appreciate its significance in the overall process.
