Ezra Systems Executives in Residence come from industry and government, bringing with them systems-related challenges that hinder their businesses or impede their agencies, and typically spend one to four weeks at Cornell. During this time, they work with one or more faculty, postdocs and graduate students on a problem of direct relevance to them, with the goal of understanding their needs, formulating a well-posed research problem, and starting long-term fruitful collaborations.
Ezra Systems Executives in Residence gain access to Cornell faculty and postdocs ready to work on real-world problems. In exchange, the Ezra Systems Executives in Residence provide their wealth of professional engineering experience to advise faculty and students. This may include helping to make research more applicable to industry and facilitating industry connections, giving guest lectures, or mentoring students about career choices.
On-going collaboration between the Systems Engineering faculty and the Executive in Residence is encouraged after the residency. The residency may include financial support from the Scholars Program.
Requirements and Qualifications
Ezra Systems Executives in Residence are typically high-level executives and program managers in charge of addressing a systems challenges. Residencies are by invitation only – there is no application process. If you are interested in becoming a resident, please contact a Systems Engineering faculty member in your area of interest.
Support and Benefit
Systems Executives in Residence are provided with local accommodation in Ithaca, travel, lodging, and access to the whole intellectual breadth of Cornell faculty for the duration of their stay. The residency may include financial support from the Scholars Program.
