Applicants should indicate the range of areas they are interested in within their cover letter.
Professors of Practice provide practice-oriented instruction based on extensive experience outside academia. Although Professors of Practice may have additional service, or outreach obligations, teaching is their primary responsibility.
The Systems Engineering Program builds upon the broad expertise of Cornell faculty. We offer unique transdisciplinary master’s and doctoral education to prepare systems engineering leaders engaged in complex engineering, socio-technical, and policy challenges. The program attracts students from a variety of disciplines, companies, and countries. You will be part of a growing program and be able to make a direct contribution to developing it further.
The faculty hired into this position will be central to the development of the program and will be fully involved in all strategic decisions and operational needs of the program. As a full member of the Systems core faculty, individuals selected for this position as a Professor of Practice are expected to contribute to our educational mission by teaching, including a small number of existing well-developed analytically based graduate-level courses, maintaining course content currency and relevance by keeping pace and sometimes contributing with research developments in systems and advising graduate-level systems projects.
